We’re Sponsoring St Edmund’s Summer Music Festival

St Edmund's summer music festival

We’re sponsoring the third St Edmund’s Festival, which takes place at the Canterbury school from June 26 to July 2.

American singer Curtis Stigers will open the week-long festival of music, drama and more. Following sell-out dates at London’s Ronnie Scott’s, Curtis will bring his show of old-school pop with swinging jazz.

We are sponsoring the festival’s Soulful Celebration on Friday, June 28, featuring Jools Holland Band members saxophonist Derek Nash and singer Louise Clare Marshall, as well as vocalist Noel McCalla, for an evening of music from the soul greats such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

First class performers

Hearbase managing director Mark Scutchings was at the launch of the Festival in the school’s Francis Musgrave Performing Arts Centre.

He said: “We are very happy to get involved in this event which features first class performers.

“We try to support the arts locally and are also corporate sponsors of Canterbury Festival and Deal Music and Arts.”

Award winning

John Harle, award winning composer and saxophonist, is again the patron of the festival which has previously included concerts from Freddy Kempf, Tasmin Little, Jess Gillam and John Harle.

The festival offers performances from world-renowned musicians as well as events for families, workshops, talks and the chance for young people to listen and play alongside world-class performers.
