Elysium Brass Quintet

Elysium Brass Quintet gave the December concert for Canterbury Music Club, an organisation we’re supporting as part of our backing for the arts.

The performance took place at the Colyer-Fergusson Hall, on Kent University’s campus in Canterbury.

Ollie Haines and Kaitlin Wild (trumpets), Alex Willett (horn), Ian Sankey (trombone and Chris Claxton (tuba) played a varied and diverse programme. Included were works by King Henry Vlll, Gabrielli, Puccini and Gershwin.

Next month’s concert, on Sunday, January 26, at 3pm features a solo piano recital by Romanian-born Madalina Rusu.

Since September 2004, she has been studying piano with Professor Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London. She gained a First class BMus Honours degree and graduated from the MMus course (Guildhall Artist – Performance) with distinction.

She will play works by Brahms, Beethoven, Enescu, Bartok and Rachmaninoff. The concert is at the Colyer-Fergusson Hall at Kent University. Tickets are £16. To book ring the Gulbenkian Theatre on 01227 769075.
